
Pipelayer
The duties of Pipelayer include but are not limited to the following items and physical requirements.
Job Specific duties will include:

Install storm drain, water, and sewer mains with service connections.

Read plans and coordinate for type of pipe and fittings.

Read plans and coordinate for grade or depth of cover for pipe.

Read plans and coordinate for location of structures and service connections
-
Set line and grade for gravity mains using pipe lasers, levels, and or means.

Direct operator to maintain line and grade of trench for pipe installation
-
Locate and install fittings on pipe.
-
Install precast bottoms and structures on mains.
-
Connection of pipe and fittings by slip (gasket), glue, mechanical, and ram neck (Butyl) joints.

Maintain egress and work area in trench.
-
Notify Superintendent, Foreman, or Operator of any changes in stability of trench walls or bottom.

Assist in testing of installed pipe.
General Job site duties will include:

Prepare for work daily by setting out tools and equipment needed.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.
-
Return tools and equipment to their proper storage area at the end of each day.

Assist the crew in other activities if your specific job skills are not needed that day.

Report any damaged or lost tools and equipment to the Superintendent or Foremen.
